If you have recently signed up for a beginners yoga class, there are certain things you need to know. We are not trying to scare you or anything like that, we just want to make sure you know what to expect on your first day. Keep in mind that everyone who does yoga went through the same things you will. So, here is what to expect in your first yoga session.
Let’s just get this one out of the way. Since your body will be twisting all around and you will be squeezing your abdominal muscles and your butt will be in the air, there will be the occasional escape of air. That is, you will fart. Best advice, ignore it and move on because it happens to everybody.
The second thing that will happen is you will fall down. Yoga is about balance, and you probably haven’t mastered that part of it yet. Again, no shame, just get up and keep going.
You will often wonder just what the heck is the instructor is saying. There will be terminology used that you have no idea what it means. Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one who is clueless. All beginners start with a learning curve.
With all that is going on, you will feel somewhat awkward. You will wonder how your poses look and if you are doing things correctly. Keep this in mind, you look fine and you are doing great. And you will only improve, so stick in there.
Most importantly, after your first session, you will be eager to go again. You will have fun and you will want to come back and continue to improve.
